Tiger Woods Wins his 5th Green Jacket and 15th Major

In 1997, I met Tiger Woods at the Phoenix Open. I brought my father there to see the tournament. He got to sit in an area for vets. I wrote about Tiger Woods in my second book “Managing Flow – Achieving Lean in the New Millennium to Win the Gold”. I took a lot of grief when I used him as an example in my book. His continuous improvement journey has just won him his 15th major.

Consistency happens for great athletics just like organizations by never giving up on the vision. His benchmark was Jack Nickolas who won 18 Majors. On pages 45,46,149 and 150 of my book Tiger was quoted as saying, “I hope I can continually improve to meet the competition of next year’s golfers at the majors.” The vision has never changed.

I have not always agreed with his off the course. However, he has always been willing to take his team through the modules Mobilization, Assessment, Redesign, Implementation and Sustainability to achieve winning. How many more Majors will he win? Sustainability is repeating a model that works. Remaking yourself or a company is a journey of Consistency.
